"Half-Blood" (Covenant) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I decided since I was ending the "Origin" series by Jennifer L. Armentrout to try to see if any of her other series (Lux being another of her series I've read) were good. And I'm glad I did.

I was able to purchase a Kindle copy that contained "Daimon", the series prequel, in it as well. That is a good purchase.

Alex is a 17-year-old girl who is a descendant of the gods. She is considered a Half-Blood, the child of a Pure and a mortal. She used to go to school at a place called the Covenant, a school where Halfs go to be trained as warriors called Sentinals. 3 years prior, her mother took her from the school and they went on the run, living amongst mortals.

But when her mother is killed by a Daimon (an evil, God-blood drinking monster), she tries to make it back to the Covenant. After being rescued on the way by Aiden, a Pure, she starts having feelings for him that based on her world's laws are forbidden. He starts training her in hopes of getting her caught up by the time classes begin in the fall. Along the way, she learns more about herself.

Like I heard a book reviewer say when reviewing this series, Lux and Origin have a normal girl who is thrusted into the supernatural world. Here, it's different. Alex was already a part of the supernatural world before going on the run. She kind of has to deal with coming back into it.

This series is very good and addictive. But I do have some advice: first, read "Daimon" before you read "Half-Blood". It makes the story flow better and leaves out room for any questions you might have if you start reading "Half-Blood" first.

Like a lot of Jennifer L. Armentrout's series, you'll find this book hard to put down.
