I was lucky enough to get a copy from Edelweiss Plus of this book and get a physical advanced copy at YallWest and met/get it signed by the author. The first thing that drew me to this book was it said it's perfect for fans of Kasie West and Jenny Han, which I am. The second was traveling to a place I've never been to, Japan. The story is told from the viewpoint of a Japanese-American teen, Kim (Kimmy) who is trying to find what her passion is after giving up painting. When her mom finds out, she ships her to Japan to stay with her grandparents for spring break. While there, she meets a young aspiring med student, Akira, who acts as her tour guide. But will "Kimmy from America" and Akira fall for each other? It is pretty obvious early on to the readers what Kimmy's passion is, but still, it's an interesting journey to watch her figure out. I loved touring Kyoto with her. I especially loved the moments between Kimmy and her grandfather the most, more pointedly the outings that involved him trying to get his secret stash of candy or chocolates. That always made me smile. This is a good travel contemporary light romance. If you're into travel romances or Young Adult contemporary romances or Japan, you should read this.
