"Last Chance Summer" by Shannon Klare [Review]

After reading the summary/plot of this book back in early August 2018, I immediately put it onto my to-be-read list. Back in mid February 2020, I was able to receive an ARC of it and after just the first few chapters, I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the book. Just like the summary/plot says, Alex gets in trouble one summer with a devastating and surprising consequence (no spoilers!) and shuts herself off from people. By the next summer, her parents try to help her by sending her from their Louisiana home to a Texas camp run by her mother's sister, Lorraine. There, she's paired up with co-counselor Grant, who has a shady past of his own. She's put in charge of four young teen girls: Jess, Steph, Jules, and Brie, who test her patience as a counselor. She also struggles to open up to people. I felt like I couldn't put the book down. I would have read it sooner, but I had a lot of personal change in my life. With all I've been going through this year, this is exactly the type of book I needed. And the title fits the story. If you're in the mood for a summer camp YA romance, don't miss your "Last Chance" to pick up this book. You won't regret it.
