"Famous in a Small Town" by Emma Mills [Review]

I loved the plot, which is what initially drew me in. Main character Sophie is determined to get her small-town's-claim-to-fame singer Megan to return to their hometown to fundraise to send the high school marching band to LA. While doing this in the summer, a budding friendship/romance is growing between her and the mysterious teen brother of the father of the family she babysits for. I loved learning about Arcadia, Illinois, and the songs Megan sung (some lyrics provided). I also enjoyed watching the romance grow between August and Sophie. It had surprises that we're good and sometimes shocking. For some reason, the scene that comes to mind (not a scene in the book) when I think about this book is a teen girl sitting in the bed of a pickup truck that's parked in the middle of an endless field wearing a sundress, reading this book as the sun sets into a summer night. This is a good contemporary romance with pop-country music you can practically hear, some mystery, and surprises that you won't expect.
