"Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss" by Kasie West [Review]

I got an advanced copy from Edelweiss Plus in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Edelweiss Plus!

I have been a fan of Kasie West's books after my first read "By Your Side" and also since meeting her at a book festival in 2017 & 2018. I have read "Lucky in Love", "Love, Life, and the List", and "Listen to Your Heart" as well by this author. And, once again, she didn't disappoint.

This book follows a supporting character from "Love, Life, and the List", main character Abby's friend Lacey, as she films her first move based off a zombie romance book: Dancing Graves. Will she solve a mystery of who's trying to sabotage her and figure out her feelings for the hot new tutor Donovan?

I loved that parts of the book showed us the movie. I'm not a fan of zombie movies, but this movie might have been one I would check out (if it actually existed). I loved that Abby and Cooper came back into the story. I think this might be the first time I've seen characters from a prior Kasie West book come back, and love it!

I loved the mystery of who was trying to sabotage her and was shocked when I found out who it was in the end (no spoilers here). But I also loved the budding romance between Lacey and Donovan. It didn't feel rushed (like they needed to get together before the end of the book) or drawn out (too long to get together), but just right.

And I love teen contemporary romances that somewhat take place on a movie set/studio lot. Another great book that follows that kind of YA contemporary romance is "My Unscripted Life" by Lauren Morrill. Though slightly similar, they are both great books for YA contemporary romance fans, fans of romances on a movie set, and Kasie West fans.

Fans of Kasie West, of YA Contemporary Romances, YA movie romances, or of "Love, Life, and the List", this is one you should add to your collection.
